After Jesus Crucifixion, He arose from the dead, and remained here on earth for a
month or so. Jesus visited with His Apostles, family and about five
hundred others, eating, teaching and enjoying them selves. During this
period of instruction Jesus promised that when he ascended back to
Heaven, from whence He came, that he would send the ‘Holy Spirit’, in a
new way, to comfort His followers.
The Holy Spirit is the third person
of the Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God is a Person, Jesus is
a Person, and the Holy Spirit is a Person.
The Holy Spirit as a Person, dwells with us, teaches us, bears witness to the Trinity,
convinces us of sin, speaks to us through the Scripture, forbids certain
actions, ministers to us, intercedes for us, protects us, etc. He has
the attributes of personality, .i.e. will, mind, thoughts, knowledge,
love, etc.
As a person he can be lied to, tempted, resisted, grieved,
blasphemed against, and outraged.
Those on the ‘Wayward Path’, he will
convict of their sin. In conscience, they will know, in their heart,
that their thoughts, words, and deeds are sinful. Question: Is my
every thought pure and wholesome, is my every word kind and true, is my
every action fair and honest? This question is a test to convince you
of your need to leave the wayward path, and follow Jesus teachings.
Life is as if we are riding on an escalator, continuously moving toward
life’s end. The end being, a spiritual life in Heaven with Jesus, or
spiritual death (separation from God) in a Lake of Fire that God prepared for Satan and his angels.
Make no mistake the wayward path is a path of shallow worldly pleasure, with
some worldly benefits. However, be not deceived, there is a price to
pay, in this life, and eternity. The rich man would not give Lazarus
the crumbs from his table. They rode the escalator of life to the top. The rich man rode the wayward path escalator and was cast off into outer
darkness and hell. Lazarus rode the righteous path escalator and the
door to heaven was opened, and he entered.
Jesus said, “The Kingdom of
Heaven is like a wedding. The invitation is made, some come early and
wait. Others tarry and arrive after the door is closed. Upon asking to
enter the answer was, ‘I know you not’”.
The Holy Spirit calls us to
make the choice now. We cannot make the choice, ‘whenever we please’. The wedding invitation is open. We do not know how close we are to the
end of the escalator of life, or when the Bridegroom will come. You
have the opportunity now.
