George Washington – Do
we believe there was a George Washington? Sure we do! History reveals
and teaches that he lived and was the first President of this nation.
You are about to make a journey. On board the plane the stewardess comes by and you order
a glass of wine. The
stewardess returns with a glass of water, you take a sip and sigh. The
man sitting beside you says, “Would you like wine”? You reply, “That’s
what I ordered”. You sit there with the water in your hand, and watch
as it turns into wine. You take a sip, it’s the finest of the finest. You look at the man and say, “How”? He replies, “Come with me, you ain’t seen nothing yet”
You arrive in Canaan two thousand years ago, and begin the walk thru the desert toward a
little town. In the middle of the day, you all become hungry, and up
ahead you see a large green fig tree, that should have fruit to eat.
The tree bore no fruit, and the man you accompanied, said to the tree,
“No fruit shall you bear, forever”. The leaves on the tree immediately
began to shrivel, as the tree dies.
As you travel, you meet two men
who are blind, who knew of this man. Upon learning, they asked him to
restore their sight. He touched their eyes and immediately their sight
was restored.
Near the town, they met a funeral possession, carrying a
young mans body. They asked, and the man placed his hand on the casket,
and said, “Young man, arise”. The young man climbed out of the casket.
In town there was an invalid man, who, for thirty-eight years, had
set by the pool. The man said, “Take up your bed and walk”. The
invalid joyfully walked away.
You are on a boat, crossing a large body
of water. The man is asleep. A storm is sinking the boat. He awakens
and speaks, the water immediately becomes calm.
On another occasion, He takes five loaves of bread and two fishes, breaks them apart, giving
them to his Apostles to pass out, and feeds five thousand men, plus
others.
Later he tells you, I will give my life and take it up
again in three days. You watch as he is crucified on the cross. His
body is placed in a tomb, guarded by Roman soldiers. Three days later
you see him and a woman named Mary walking in the garden.
The expressway you are traveling has many wide lanes marked
"Unrighteous" and one narrow exit lane marked "Righteous". Jesus
sitting beside you says, “I have shown you that I have ALL
POWER, evidenced by what you have seen. Enter into the narrow exit
lane. For wide are the lanes and broad is the road that leads to
destruction, and many travel it. But narrow is the lane and narrow
is the road that leads to life, and only a few find it".
(NIV Matt. 7:13 paraphrased)
